Bardi Johannsson has long been acclaimed as one of Iceland’s most intriguing creative enigmas. Bardi is a composer, singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, designer, presenter, satirist and fine purveyor of surreal humour.
He is the only member of the Gang Bang melancholic-cinematic project, but he collaborates with famous female voices such as Keren Ann, Helen Marnie (Ladytron), Bloodgroup and Jofridur Akadottir
His work can be heard from Europe to Hollywood, from silent movies to major theater productions, from the LA teen-drama The OC to advertisements for haute couture – and his versatility and vision is displayed nowhere better than here, on this compelling, largely minimalist selection of Johannsson’s classical film, TV and theater Bardi has written music for the National Theater of Iceland and Centre Dramatique D’Orleans and numerous shorts, documentaries and feature films - his soundtrack for Oskar Jonasson’s Reykjavik Rotterdam (2009) winning Best Original Film Score at the Icelandic Edda Film Awards.
One of the most notable collaborations for the big screen is the soundtrack for Häxan: Witchcraft Through the Ages, the controversial 1922 Swedish silent horror movie, a project that will be available to the Cluj audience on the evening before, on May 29, at 9:45 PM, at the Students' Cultural House.
