Dorina Lazăr, one of the greatest and beloved actresses of the Romanian film and theatre will be the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award at the ninth edition of Transilvania International Film Festival.

With an impressive career amassing over 30 roles in film productions and over 50 roles in theatre performances, Dorina Lazăr has made her first appearance in 1961, at the Bucharest Regional Theatre;  since 1969 she has been an actress at the Odeon Theatre, and since 2003 she has been the manager of the very same an institution. In 1974 she had her first part in a film production, Păcală (directed by Geo Saizescu).

Among the most representative titles in her filmography are Crucea de piatră / The Stone Cross (dir. Andrei Blaier), Balanţa / The Oak (dir. Lucian Pintilie), Liceenii / The Graduates (dir. Nicolae Corjos), Binecuvântată fii, închisoare / Bless You, Prison (dir. Nicolae Mărgineanu), Modigliani (dir. Mick Davis), Saint Ange / House of Voices (dir. Pascal Laugier), Amen (dir. Costa Gavras) and Angela merge mai departe / Angela Goes On (dr. Lucian Bratu), which can be seen at TIFF in a special screening in honor of the actress, on the 5th of June, 17:30 h, at Cinema Arta.

Released in 1981, the feature Angela goes on is the love story between a taxi driver lady with an ordinary life and a petroleum worker who comes to the capital city for his studies. The two of them get married, although the man has to leave for three years in India and Angela cannot join him. For her part, Dorina Lazăr received the Best Film Actress award in 1982 from the Romanian Filmmakers Association.

Over the time, Dorina Lazăr was rewarded for her great talent with The Bronze Lion at the International Theatre Festival from Arrezo, for drama Năpasta / The Misfortune or the Best Actress Award granted by the Ministry of Culture in 2003, for Grette in Holy Mothers, and also, the UNITER Award for Lifetime Achievement in Acting, in 2008.

The Lifetime Achievement Award is offered by Banca Transilvania and will be handed during the Closing Ceremony of the Transilvania International Film Festival, on the 5th of June, 20:30 h, at the National Theatre from Cluj Napoca.
