Corneliu Porumboiu to Give a Masterclass at the Radisson Blu Hotel on Saturday, June 20, at 10:30 AM
The Transilvania International Film Festival (TIFF, June 12–21, 2026, Cluj-Napoca) celebrates one of the most important contemporary Romanian filmmakers this year: Corneliu Porumboiu.
Two decades after his feature-film debut, the festival is presenting a complete retrospective of his work, featuring all of his films, from 12:08 East of Bucharest (A fost sau n-a fost?, 2006) to The Whistlers (La Gomera, 2019).
A two-time winner of the Transilvania Trophy, the festival’s highest distinction, Corneliu Porumboiu will receive the TIFF.25 Trophy, a special award marking the festival’s anniversary edition. He will also take part in a masterclass open to both audiences and film industry professionals.
The event will offer a rare opportunity to engage with one of Romania’s most acclaimed auteurs and to explore the creative process, themes, and cinematic language that have shaped his internationally celebrated body of work.
TIFF Masterclasses are open to the public and free of charge, subject to venue capacity.
