TIFF.4 - 2005

The fourth edition of the Transilvania International Film Festival (TIFF), held from May 27 to June 5, 2005, in Cluj-Napoca, marked a key moment when Romanian productions began to dominate the attention of both juries and audiences. The event turned into a true celebration of auteur cinema, bringing thousands of spectators into the screening venues.

Beyond the traditional screens, the festival remained memorable for two important behind-the-scenes moments. The screening of The Death of Mr. Lăzărescu, fresh from its success at Cannes, generated huge queues and packed venues to capacity, officially confirming the explosion of the Romanian New Wave in the eyes of the wider public. In addition, in order to accommodate the huge number of young people arriving from all over the country, the organizers launched the “Camping at TIFF” initiative, a special campsite dedicated to students that transformed the event from a simple list of screenings into a complete cultural experience.
