Into Eternity

Director:
Michael Madsen

In Finland, the world’s first attempt at a permanent storage for nuclear waste is being hewn out of solid bedrock. The waste will remain hazardous for 100,000 years, and once full, the storage will be sealed off for all eternity. But how do we prevent our descendants from thinking they have found the Pyramids of our time or a hidden treasure? How do we warn them of the deadly waste we left behind? While gigantic machines dig steadily deeper into the underworld, experts above ground strive to find solutions to the radioactive waste issue in the hope of keeping mankind safe.
