TIFF.22 - 2023
Love for cinema was, as always, at the heart of the 22nd edition of the Transilvania International Film Festival, which took place in Cluj-Napoca between June 9 and 18.
More than 125,000 locals and tourists attended a TIFF marked by encounters with international stars, as well as by new voices in filmmaking.
Of the 350 screenings and events organized, more than 100 were sold out.

Of the 350 screenings and events organized, more than 100 were sold out. With an 8% increase compared to last year, TIFF.22 recorded 110,000 tickets sold.
The free-entry activities in Florești, dedicated to children and parents, the masterclasses held by the festival’s special guests — Geoffrey Rush, Oliver Stone, Timothy Spall, and Michel Franco — the daily meetings with actors and directors at TIFF Lounge, as well as the exhibitions at the Cluj-Napoca Art Museum, all contributed to the final tally: 125,000 participants.

“It has been an extraordinary week for me. The people at the festival were generous in every respect. I am very grateful for the screening of the film Shine — I haven’t received such a warm welcome in a very long time.”

Alongside Carolina Markowicz (Best Director Award) and director Tia Kouvo (Special Jury Award), Dornaz Hajiha marks a first in the festival’s history: it is the first time that the most important awards have been won exclusively by women.
