The Cardinal

Director:
Nicolae Mărgineanu

In 1950 the Catholic-Greek leaders are arrested and locked up in the Sighet prison, as the new policy enforced by the Soviets does not accept the existence of a Church outside the Orthodox one. The warden and the guards put continuous pressure on the priests to convince them to convert. One man rises high amongst them and he gradually becomes a guide for the others: the Bishop Iuliu Hossu.
