Paul Godard, a filmmaker, is afraid of life without Denise, his estranged girlfriend. When she asks for his help, he reluctantly agrees, but this gesture doesn't help their relationship. Later, he is picked up by a prostitute, Isabelle. One of as many as four films starring Isabelle Huppert which had their world premiere in the official competition of the 1980 Cannes film festival!
