The winter of 1907, the Amara village. The boyar Miron Iuga's conservatism and the trespasses of the landholders protected by the authorities upset the peasants. Mere serfs, their only chance for a better life is owning some land. But the boyar and his daughter-in-law, Nadina, dismiss their request and mock them. The news of peasant uprisings from other parts of the country gives courage to the poor men. Lead by Petre Petre, the peasants seem determined to confront the boyar...
