The Films Selected in the Local Competition at TIFF.24

TIFF.24 proudly continues its 16-year tradition of promoting and awarding Cluj-based filmmakers, giving them the chance to see their work on the big screen. Out of 39 submitted short films, 8 were selected to be screened as part of the Local Competition Gala, taking place at 21:00 at Cinema Dacia Mănăștur. Admission is free, based on an online reservation.

The Local Competition jury is composed of actress Nicoleta Hâncu, producer Monica Lăzurean-Gorgan, and director Florin Șerban.

The “TIFF 2025 Local Competition Award,” worth €1,000, is offered by Banca Transilvania. Additionally, Numa Film will award the winner with production services worth €10,000 for their next film project, while Leonidas will offer a year’s supply of chocolate.

The Unusual Award, offered by Komiti, consists of consulting and production services, including pre-production support (planning, organization, call sheets) and three days of filming with a full technical crew and professional equipment.

The Special Jury Mention includes a scholarship from Școala de Film for an introductory course in Screenwriting or Directing (depending on the winner's place of residence at the time of claiming the prize), as well as color grading services worth €5,000 for the director’s next film, offered by Numa Film.

The Făclia Award is offered by Demostene Șofron and sculptor Ovidiu Guleș.
