Full Moon Creative Lab | Participants
Full Moon Creative Lab, a project dedicated to screenwriters specializing in genre TV series: thriller, horror, and fantasy, has ended the selection phase and identified three projects to be creatively developed over the course of three residencies. The Transilvania International Film Festival initiative is co-funded by the European Union and the first residency is scheduled to take place at the end of October in Transylvania.
The lab marks the next step in the development of the Full Moon Script Contest, a program initiated by Transilvania IFF in 2020.
Following the open call for projects at Transilvania IFF in June, which was completed in September, the jury selected 12 screenwriters out of 70 submissions. They will have the opportunity to participate in the residencies, which are scheduled for October 2023, March, and June 2024. During the residencies, the participants will develop their skills in a creative environment alongside international film industry experts.
The three selected projects belong to screenwriters Adina Istrate (Romania) for the thriller Aurora, Giulio Rizzo (Italy) for the horror-fantasy project ICU - Immortal Care Unit and Barbara Skubic (Slovenia) for Negative Split thriller.
During the first creative residency, the 3 screenwriters mentioned above will be joined by 9 others from Romania, Italy, Ireland, Hungary, Slovenia, Poland, and Bulgaria. They are Barry Murphy (Ireland), Rosella di Campli (Italy), Richard Karpala (Poland), Sînziana Cojocărescu (Romania), Nadya Todorova (Bulgaria), Greg Simmons (Ireland), Cristina Iliescu (Romania), Attila Veres (Hungary), Rafael Alberto Garciolo (Germany).
The screenwriters will be divided into 3 Writers' Rooms, each guided by industry professionals: Eilon Ratzkovsky (Israel), a producer with over 25 years of experience in film and TV production, who has recently tutored for TorinoFilmLab and Biennale College Cinema, and served as the Head of Studies for TFL Extended; Arnaud Louvet, a French screenwriter and producer involved in various streaming platform series, spanning genres from crime to period dramas; and Romanian screenwriter and director Geo Doba, a graduate of the renowned Serial Eyes Program at DFFB in Berlin, where she received the Big Light Writers' Apprenticeship Award (2021), a participant in TFL Extended 2019 – Feature Film workshop, and resident at the Pustnik International Screenwriting Program with the project Unrooted (2021).
The first edition will end with a pitching session at the Transilvania International Film Festival (June 2024), where influential industry professionals such as producers, sales agents, television representatives, and major streaming platform representatives will provide opportunities for projects to secure market support.
Full Moon Creative Lab represents an annual creative workshop held in Transylvania, offering screenwriters the opportunity to enhance their skills while surrounded by international industry experts. The project aims to improve the creative process for screenwriters by connecting talented filmmakers from all EU countries.
