At the 9th edition of the Transilvania International Film Festival, one of the most spectacular and  innovative events TIFF has set up to entertain the cinema lovers are the open air screenings in Piata Unirii – the Ursus Open Air project.

Encouraged by the success of the previous screenings organized by TIFF at past editions in Piata Mică from Sibiu, and following the pattern of the open air screenings from Piazza Grande in Locarno, the organizers are hoping that this new place for screenings will stir up the interest of an increasing number of people from Cluj willing to enjoy the seventh art, offering them not only a great selection of films, but also the opportunity to take part in a series of sensational events.

The inauguration of the Ursus Open Air is set for the 28th of May, with the opening screening  at TIFF 2010, Soul Kitchen, directed by Fatih Akin; during the whole festival the cinema lovers will have the opportunity to enjoy 9 more top films, such as: Baaria, from the Italian director Giuseppe Tornatore, nominated for the Best Foreign Language FIlm at the Golden Globes, a bitter-sweet story about the loves, dreams and disillusions of a whole community from the past century Palermo; Haeundae: The Deadly Tsunami, directed by Je-gyun Yun, the first 'disaster movie' produced in South-Korea, in which a popular vacation destination, Haeundae, will be hit by a tsunami; or Road, Movie, directed by Dev Benegal, the story of Vishnu, a restless young man itching to escape his father's business, who embarks on the mission to sell an old truck to a local museum, and finds himself taking an adventurous journey in the middle of the desert.

Fans of sports and of the well-known footbal player Ferenc Puskás mustn't miss Puskás Hungary, a documentary directed by Tamás Almási, about the great captain of the Hungarian football team from the ’50s, who has overcome poverty and survived the World War II and the Revolution from 1956, becoming the number one forward for Real Madrid.

And last but not least, the public will enjoy the feature Confessions of Love/Declaraţie de dragoste, directed by Nicolae Corjos, one of the first Romanian love stories that had a great succes during the ’80s, starring Teodora Mareş, Adrian Păduraru and others resounding names of the Romanian cinema, Ion Caramitru, Tamara Buciuceanu-Botez or Adela Mărculescu.
