Cătălin Cristuţiu

Bio

Born in Bucharest in 1979, Cătălin Cristuţiu graduated in Editing at the National University of Theatre and Film "I. L. Caragiale". Radu Jude, Cristian Nemescu, Nae Caranfil, Florin Şerban, Alexandru Solomon, Silviu Purcărete, Călin Peter Netzer, Adriano Valerio, Radu Potcoavă, Andrei Creţulescu, Claudiu Mitcu, and Răzvan Georgescu are among the directors he has worked with. The most recent film he edited, 6.9 on the Richter Scale, will be screened in the opening of the 15th edition of TIFF.

Margita Gosheva

Bio

Margita studied acting at The National Academy for Theater and Film Arts (NATFA), Sofia, Bulgaria. She is a member of Sfumato Theater Laboratory Artistic Group. Recently, she has also started teaching acting in the Sunday Theater School, based in Sfumato Laboratory. As an actress she continues to perform on stage in Bulgarian and international theater productions, and takes part in numerous workshops (such as SITI Summer Intensive, Skidmore Colledge), as well as in Bulgarian and international film productions. For her performance in the Bulgarian-Greek film production The Lesson she has won seven international awards, one of them at TIFF 2015.

Bill Guentzler

Bio

Bill is the Artistic Director of the Cleveland International Film Festival (CIFF) which is the only US festival with a competition for Central and Eastern European films. He joined the CIFF as an intern in 1998. Soon thereafter he was hired as a part-time employee. After years of different positions, he was promoted to Artistic Director in 2005. As Artistic Director, he has served as a juror and panelist at numerous festivals throughout the world. He holds a B.A. in Communications from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Cleveland State University.

Wieland Speck

Bio

Born in Freiburg in 1951, Wieland is head curator of the Berlinale Panorama since 1992. He studied German Literature, Drama and Ethnology at the Freie Universität Berlin. He then started working on video and film projects and was a writer and publisher. In his work he focuses on the men's movement and homosexual identity.

Since 1982 he has been working for the Panorama section of the Berlin International Film Festival. From 1982-1992 he was assistant to the former head of the section, Manfred Salzgeber, being responsible for artistic and organizational matters. In this function he initiated in 1987 the famous Teddy Award, for films tackling LFBT themes.

Wasilewski Tomasz

Bio

Born in 1980, Tomasz graduated from the Academy of Film and Television and The National Film School in Łódź. His feature debut In a Bedroom had its world premiere at Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in 2012. His second feature film Floating Skyscrapers had its world premiere at Tribeca Film Festival in 2013. Selected in the official competition at TIFF 2014, the film brought Tomasz the Best Directing Award. His third movie United States of Love was selected in the official competition of this year's Berlinale and received the Silver Bear for Best Script. United States of Love will have its Romanian premiere at TIFF 2016, in the Supernova sidebar.

Goldschmidt Guillermo

Bio

A graduate in Industrial Design, Guillermo is Director of the Film Department and Design and Publishing Manager of Fundación Proa, a cutting edge contemporary art centre based in Buenos Aires, Argentina, that opened in 1996. Its auditorium is also home for the BAFICI and the DocBsAs Film Festivals.

Guillermo has coordinated several editions of the "Taller Proa Cine", a workshop focused on the development of scripts of first features films. He’s the artistic director and executive producer of the “Proa Film Festival”, a series of Latin American film festivals around the world that started in 2006 and that now has fifteen locations in different countries.

Pena Richard

Bio

Richard was the Program Director of the Film Society of Lincoln Center and the Director of the New York Film Festival from 1988 until 2012. At the Film Society, he organized retrospectives of cinema greats, as well as major film series devoted to African, Israeli, Cuban, Polish, Hungarian, Chinese, Arab cinema, among others.

Together with Unifrance, he created in 1995 Rendez-Vous with French Cinema, the leading American showcase for new French cinema.

A frequent lecturer on film internationally, he is a Professor of Film Studies at Columbia University, where he specializes in film theory and international cinema.

Sniegowska Urszula

Bio

A Warsaw University History of Art and American Culture departments graduate, Urszula is the artistic director of the American Film Festival in Wroclaw, Poland, and co-organizer of US in Progress in Wroclaw and Paris, the one and only event in Eastern Europe devoted solely to promoting and presentation of independent films from the United States.

She acts as board member of International Association of Art-House cinemas C.I.C.A.E. and sat at C.I.C.A.E. and Europa Cinemas juries at Venice, Berlinale, Cannes and Sarajevo film festivals.

She acts as programming associate for Watch Docs Human Rights in Film International Film Festival in Warsaw. She writes occasionally on film and film culture (for Obieg, KINO, Filmweb).

Grosoli Fabrizio

Bio

Born in 1954, Fabrizio is a film expert, producer and distributor. Collaborator for the non-fiction area for several festivals, TV channels and production companies, as a film critic he has written for dedicated magazines and is author of a monograph on Werner Herzog.

From 2005 to 2012 he was in charge of the documentary section for the Trieste Film Festival - the leading Italian Festival on Central and Estern European Cinema, of which he has been artistic co-director since 2013.

Sara Norberg

Bio

A film industry pro with broad experience in film production and distribution, Sara has worked for all major Finnish production companies as a production manager and assistant director. In 2008 she became involved in film distribution by working for the Sandrew Metronome Distribution, which also handled Warner Bros titles in Finland.

In 2011 she joined the Helsinki International Film Festival team and in 2012 she founded the festival's industry sidebar, Finnish Film Affair, which has since grown to be the major industry event in Finland.

She is a member of European Film Academy.

Puksta Edvinas

Bio

Edvinas este selecţioner senior pentru Festivalul Internaţional de Film de la Vilnius, cel mai important eveniment de cinema din Lituania. S-a alăturat echipei în 2004 şi este responsabil pentru alegerea filmelor, programarea proiecţiilor şi redactarea catalogului festivalului.

Invitat adesea la diverse festivaluri de film de pe întreg globul, vede peste 800 de lungmetraje şi 500 de scurtmetraje anual. Cronicile şi articolele sale sunt publicate pe portalul 15min, în revista Valstybe şi în alte publicaţii lituaniene. A fost jurat C.I.C.A.E. la festivalurile de la Berlin (2014) şi Cannes (2015).

Győző Mátyás

Bio

Mátyás is a film critic, writer and university teacher in Hungary. He has published several articles, essays, treaties about film. His latest work is a book about David Fincher’s oeuvre - titled "The Realm of Appearence".

Győző Mátyás is also known as a prose writer, and he has been editor of a cultural monthly called Kritika for more than 25 years. He is associate professor at King Sigismund College, Budapest. He is holding lectures on film theory, film history, postmodern film and many others.

Kira Taszman

Bio

Kira was born in 1969 in Berlin. She is a freelance film critic writing for papers such as Neues Deutschland, Nürnberger Zeitung, taz, Filmecho/Filmwoche, as well as a translator. She studied literature, history and interpreting in Berlin and Paris. She has been an avid Berlinale goer for the past 17 years and has reported there, among others, for Moving Pictures and Screen International. She has attended various festivals as a FIPRESCI jury member and is a member of the German Film Critics Association.

Irina Trocan

Bio

Irina is a Romanian freelance writer and short film programmer for the NexT Film Festival in Bucharest, as well as the coordinator of the online media and culture magazine Acoperişul de Sticlă. She has written in Romanian and English for several publications: Film Menu, Dilema Veche, Istoria Filmului, SUB25, Movie Mezzanine, Fandor, Photogénie. At the 2015 edition of Semaine de la Critique in Cannes, she was in the editorial team, contributing to RelaxNews and 20minutes.

Since 2015, she is working on a PhD thesis on video essays at the National University of Film and Drama in Bucharest, where she also works as a teaching assistant in the Film Studies department.

Georgia Moraru

Bio

Sunt născută în Cluj-Napoca, sunt studentă în anul III la Facultatea de Teatru și Televiziune, secția Cinematografie, Fotografie, Media și în prezent lucrez la filmul de licență. Sunt pasionată de film și teatru și am fost voluntar la TIFF mai mulți ani la rând. Colaborez cu diverse publicații ca Eliberart.ro și Filmsense.eu unde scriu cu plăcere cronică de film și, ocazional, de teatru.

Am fost unul dintre cei 10 finaliști la concursul național Fii Critic la Cannes, în cadrul festivalului Les Films de Cannes à Bucarest, ediția 2015.

În timpul liber fac fotografie de stradă și îmi place să surprind momente din viața cotidiană. Mă simt onorată să fac parte din juriul tinerilor francofoni al TIFF.15, filmul francez fiind unul dintre cele mai apropiate de sufletul meu prin regizori ca Godard, Rohmer și Audiard.

SOLÈNE NORET

Bio

Mă numesc Solène Noret și sunt studentă în anul 4 la secția francofonă de medicină generală a UMF. Trăiesc de trei ani în România și de 3 ani sunt angajată în asociația studenților francofoni din filierele medicale clujene. Prin intermediul asociației noastre, suntem în legătură directă cu Institutul Francez din Cluj, ceea ce mi-a permis să descopăr superbul dinamism cultural din Cluj. Pasionată de cinema-ul francez și european (Kusturica, Gatlif, Bergman, Saura, Scola, Mungiu, Almodovar, Moretti…), mă bucur de filme, de muzica și actorii lor. Cinema-ul reprezintă pentru mine 90 de minute de evadare, de identificare cu personajele, de transcendere a realului.

OLIMPIA BUHAI

Bio

De aproape trei ani, Olimpia învață carte și lecții de viață la Facultatea de Litere din Cluj-Napoca și pe oriunde altundeva o poartă pașii. Se bucură de tinerețe, de artă și caută răspunsuri la întrebările care o frământă în oameni, în cărți, în muzică și, că veni vorba, în filme. Nici nu-și mai amintește cum s-a îndrăgostit de literatură și de cinema, dar simte că sunt îndeletniciri frumoase și-i admiră enorm pe scriitori, pe scenariști și pe regizori . Speră în secret să poată bântui săli de cinema și să se delecteze din nou, la nesfârșit, cu arta cinematografică. TIFF-ul a găsit-o cu o mare poftă de filme, lecții de viață și schimburi de idei. Se simte nespus de onorată să facă parte din juriul tinerilor francofoni.

IOANA CIUPA

Bio

Mă numesc Ioana și studiez Relațiile Publice și Publicitate în cadrul FSPAC, nivel master. Sunt o persoană activă, optimistă și mereu în căutare de nou și captivant. Sunt o împătimită a gusturilor exotice și a aventurilor, iar cinematografia a avut o mare influență. Filmele m-au ajutat să deschid drumul spre visare și să descopăr culturile lumii. De unde și pasiunea mea pentru evenimentele culturale și dorința de nou, cunoaștere și socializare. La mai multe filme!

DUMITRU NEAGU

Bio

Am 20 ani, sunt tânăr, dinamic, cu un spirit deschis noilor încercări. Deși sunt de origine moldovean, îmi fac studiile aici, în România, astfel sunt student la Universitatea Tehnică din Cluj-Napoca, deci vreau să devin inginer.

Îmi place enorm Clujul, România și, în general, poporul român.

Tânăr francofon, pasionat de limba franceză, cultura francofonă, cu un interes pronunțat pentru filme și arta cinematografică, sport, precum și științele exacte.

Urez mult curaj și succes realizatorilor filmelor care sunt în competiție!

YARDEN TAL

Bio

Mă numesc Yarden Tal, sunt din Israel, din orașul Haifa. Am studiat științe, natură și mediu la școala generală Reali din Haifa, apoi am urmat liceul de artă și design Wizo, unde am studiat muzică clasică și design.

După serviciul militar obligatoriu, de trei ani, am fost admis să studiez la Academia de Arte Bezalel din Ierusalem, școala națională de arte din Israel, ca creator video și video-art, dar am ales să călătoresc.

Am călătorit în Asia de sud-est, în India, Caraibe și în America de Nord. În timpul călătoriilor am cunoscut-o pe prietena mea, Marie Noël, care este din Canada și pe care o vizitez des.

În final, am hotărât să renunț la studiile artistice și să încep studiul relațiilor internaționale la Universitatea Babeș-Bolyai din Cluj-Napoca. Voi locui la Paris în anul al doilea, având o bursă Erasmus în Științe Politice.

Lucrez, de asemenea, și ca traducător de filme și video-uri și sunt interesat de lume și de diferitele culturi, de limbi și de popoarele străine.

MARINE DORI

Bio

Mă numesc Marine și am 23 de ani. Studentă la Universitatea de Științe Umane și Sociale Lille 3, Franța, am studiat mai întâi artele și mijloacele media, pentru ca apoi să mă orientez spre sociologie, iar azi urmez un masterat de mediere interculturală. Este a doua oară când vin să trăiesc în România. Astăzi scriu o lucrare despre zidurile construite la granițele Europei. Sunt și animatoare și reporter amator la Radio Campus Lille. Din România, trimit reportaje și cronici, scurt metraje sonore narative.

În timpul studiilor mele precedente, ni s-a explicat foarte repede importanța simbolurilor și a imaginilor expuse în cinema. Îmi plac, în mod special, cinema-ul Nouvelle Vague, tăcerile lui Jean-Luc Godard, estetica la François Truffaut, relațiile între personaje la Eric Rohmer…Îmi place cinematografia pentru capacitatea sa de a învălui publicul într-o altă realitate.

Participarea la concursul de filme francofone al TV5Monde va fi o sursă de inspirație și, în același timp, o mare ocazie de a împărtăși.

Kantor Eliran

Bio

Eliran is an artist and illustrator, born in Israel and since 2009 based in Berlin. In 2005 at age 21, he was hired by an advertising firm where he directed and designed national campaigns for the likes of Renault and Visa.

A year later he had quit the advertising business in order to focus on creating artwork for metal and rock music album covers. By 2016 his work appeared on over 100 record covers for Testament, IcedEarth, Hatebreed, Sodom, GWAR, Soulfly, Kataklysm, Anacrusis, Atheist, Incantation, Sigh, Hate Eternal, Satan, Tristania & Fleshgod Apocalypse among many others.

Carter Pilcher

Bio

Carter founded Shorts International in 2000, building it together with his team into the world’s leading short movie entertainment company, functioning as distributor and and producer.

With a catalogue of over 5000 short movies, Shorts International represents every genre across multiple platforms. Catalogue titles include past Oscar winners and nominees, festival favourites and revered classics.

Before launching Shorts International, Carter worked for Bankers Trust, a leading US investment bank. Carter is also a Member of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences and serves on the juries selecting Oscar nominees for Best Animated Feature films and Best Short Film.

Louis Savy

Bio

Louis is the founder and festival director and programmer for the Sci-Fi-London Film Festival. Over its 15 years the festival has grown into a credible launchpad for international independent short and feature films. Louis also runs a 48-hours film challenge as part of the event and has helped create over 1000 short films. He also produced the award-winning feature The Search for Simon and has a new scifi short shooting in June.
