Over 90,000 tickets were sold to the 225 films from 53 counties — almost 14% more than in the previous year. Online tickets also registered an uptick, as 38,9% of the total number of tickets were bought online — 13.72% more than in the previous year. 130,000 participants came to TIFF, including for the free open-air screenings, workshops, launch events, exhibitions, and debates, and over 1,200 Romanian and foreign guests came to Cluj over the 10 days of the festival.

The absolute per-screening record in the entire history of the festival has now gone to For a Cop’s Hide, which screened in the Unirii Square in the presence of Alain Delon — 3,312 tickets were sold for that. The opening film for the festival, King of the Belgians, also registered a record number of participants — over 3,000. The Banffy in Bonțida hosted an audience of over 2,000 for the Metropolis cine-concert, a record for the Weekend at the Castle events at TIFF. Also in the top box office successes of the festival are The History of Love (3,000 tickets), Like Crazy, and the closing night May God Save Us, each of which had over 2,000 seats in the Unirii Square.

The enigmatic rebel of French cinema, a European film icon, and one of the world’s most beloved actors, the legendary Alain Delon comes to Romania for the first time as a special guest of the 16th edition of the Transilvania International Film Festival (June 2-11). The French star, who is often cited as one of the most beautiful men of all time, conquered the hearts and minds of the audiences during the golden age of European cinema.
Transilvania IFF will award Alain Delon the Lifetime Achievement Award for exceptional artistic contribution. In his honor, on June 9th, the Unirii Square will host a special screening of Pour la peau d’un flic / For a Cop’s Hide (1981), a thriller directed by the great French actor and which also features Delon in the starring role. The 16th edition of the Transilvania International Film Festival (TIFF) announced its winners on Saturday evening, June 10, at the Cluj-Napoca National Theatre.
The Transilvania Trophy, worth 15,000 euros and sponsored by Staropramen, was awarded to the feature film Familia mea fericită / My Happy Family, a Georgian story directed by Nana Ekvtimishvili and Simon Gross. The film’s cinematography is signed by Tudor Panduru, who was present at the event.
The Closing Gala, with star guest Alain Delon, will be broadcast on Sunday, June 11, at 9:10 p.m. on TVR 1.

Among this year’s special guests is one of the world’s most beloved actors, Alain Delon. The French star will arrive in Romania for the first time at TIFF, where he will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Sir Derek Jacobi, known for films such as *Little Dorrit* (1983), *Gladiator* (2000), and *The King’s Speech* (2010), will attend alongside Radu Mihăileanu at the premiere of *The Story of Love*.
Also walking the red carpet is American actor Armand Assante, a four-time Golden Globe nominee, for the fantasy horror screening *The Wanderers* (dir. Dragoș Buliga), filmed in Romania. In the film, he reunites with his co-star from *California Dreamin’ (Endless)*, Răzvan Vasilescu, ten years later.
