They will provide live music for the screening of Walter Ruttmann's famed documentary, Berlin: Symphony of a Metropolis (1972), a mesmerizing recording of one single day in the 1920s Berlin. The hypnotic sound of the nad goes perfictly with the energetic editing of the film. Since its creation in 1996, Zenzile has triggered a dub renaissance, enriching this raggae-connected musical genre with new influences, effects and voices.  a provocat la înființare, în 1996, o adevărată renaștere a dub-ului, gen înrudit cu reggae-ul, căruia i-a adăugat noi influențe, efecte și voci. This musical diversity set off their new musical direction, trip-hop, launched on the album Living in Monochrome, featuring Tricky.

A very special concert will be the one held by famed jazz pianist Tord Gustavsen and African-German artist Simin Tander, one of the most beloved voices in jazz today, at the Students' House, on Sunday, May 31. „A very unique piano technique”, says „All about Jazz” magazine. Now 44, Gustavsen is one of the most prolific contemporary pianists, and his music is both sophisticated and instantly unforgettable. Simin Tander is an up-and-coming star, combining Western jazz with Middle Eastern rhythms.

Tuesday, June 2, at the Students' House, you have a date with Einar Stray Orchestra, one of the most interesting bands of the past years, a mini-orchestra made of five young and musically versatile Norwegians. Famous from Norway to Russia, these five young men launched their second album, Politricks, last year and held over 30 concerts all over Europe. Their concert will follow after the screening of Beatles (by Peter Flinth) a tender and funny story about the friendship between four young men from Oslo, during the 1960s Beatlesmania. Norwegian music will be heard throughout TIFF as part of NORWAVE, a programme financed through SEE and Norwegian grants and organized in partnership with the Norwegian Film Institute.

This year, Cluj-Napoca is the European Youth Capital. Consequently, TIFF will be surrounded by students via a special programme: TIFF Campus. In the May 29 - 31 weekend, near the Hasdeu Student Cafeteria, TIFF Campus will bring free admission open-air screenings, concertes and parties till dawn. On May 29, the programme starts with The Toasters, the legendary American ska band founded in 1981. The after-party will be hosted by the Cluj-based DJ Socol. On Saturday, everyone's invited to an Electro-Romanian night animated by ROA breakbeats, Golan dark disco sounds and Brasov-based DJ HighRoller. The last day belongs to CTC (Deliric, Vlad Dobrescu, DOC), Fantome, a new project supported by Subcarpați, AFO and the live band Cred că sunt extraterestru, a new hip-hop project by Aforic.

The TIFF Campus screening were made for the students: Dyke Hard, a tasty punk musical SF parody, Dessau Dancers, about the history of East Germany breakdance movement, and Wild Tales, the Oscar nominated black comedy about revenge.

On May 30, Adrian Naidin Band will bring a special combination of classical music and jazz-folk with Romanian influences; on Sunday, May 31, take the stage the Bucharest-based Moebius and the Cluj-based Satellites. Zenzile will return on Monday, June 1, for a second concert, followed by the Romanian dub band The Dream Diggers. Thursday, June 4, Danish new-folk composer Kim Larsen, recently heard on the soundtrack of Why Me?, will hold the concert Of the Wand & The Moon. His 2011 album, The Lone Descent, has been described by some critics as a neo-folk masterpiece. On Friday, June 5, it's time for another two Romanian bands – Temple Invisible and Baba Dochia. The full Casa TIFF concert schedule will be made public very soon.
