It is never too late to volunteer at TIFF!

15.03.2012 02:00
For the first time at TIFF 2012, among the 400 volunteers who will contribute to the smooth operation of the festival, there can also be people who have long passed the adolescence stage

Therefore, parents and particularly grandparents of the young film-goers are welcomed in the team of the biggest international film festival in Romania.

In the European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations, the Transylvania International Film Festival welcomes with open arms anyone who wishes to take part as volunteer in the organization of the festival, regardless of age or profession.

This year, under the slogan Never too old to... be young at heart, there will be held activities in all the 27 Member States of the European Union, in addition to Island, Liechtenstein and Norway. TIFF embraces this initiative and invites all people with experience and many years of work to enjoy, together with the young, the beautiful and tumultuous life of a magnitude event like TIFF.

Last year, over 400 people from 10 departments (guest, ticketing, press & communication, promotion, subtitles, technical, info point, logistics, accreditation, special events) contributed to the smooth operation of the festival. Volunteers have access to films, concerts, various releases and parties and the opportunity to meet the actors and directors they admire.

People who believe that it’s never too late to learn something new and people who are willing to gain experience are asked to fill in the application form for volunteering, available on the festival’s website http://www.tiff.ro/echipa/voluntari, within May 4th, 2012. Questions and suggestions can be sent on the e-mail address voluntari@tiff.ro.

In a society in which the number of elder people is increasing, the European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations tries to demonstrate that we need all the time the experience of people who have already "gone through life".

Active ageing means getting involved in society by taking measures in fields like medical assistance, social services, volunteering, accommodation, IT and transport services. In 2012, the European Commission has in mind to obtain concrete measures to that effect from authorities, the civil society and from employers and union organizations.
