13.02.2010 02:00

Romanian Film Promotion is for the third time present at Berlinale Film Market, during Berlin’s International Film Festival , with a booth dedicated to Romanian cinematography.

Set up in a good location that ensures a large amount of visitors, the stand offers various materials and news about the Romanian cinematography, including Romanian Films (a catalogue published by APFR, which gathers all Romanian productions (feature films, shorts, documentaries, etc) from the last three years, announces all releases from 2010 and makes a short brief of the most important films which are now in production.

From the very first days, the stand was visited by numerous filmmakers, artistic directors representing the most important international film festivals and journalists from high profile newspapers and magazines.

A special mission that APFR has to fulfill this year is to promote those Romanian people whose films are being presented at Berlinale (competitive or non competitive sections).

Eu Când Vreau Să Fluier, Fluier / If I Want to Whistle I Whistle- the debut film of director Florin Serban, produced by Strada Film, competes, next to other 25 productions, for the Gold Bear, the grand prize of the official competition.

Another Romanian film is the long awaited debut in feature films of Constantin Popescu, called Portretul Luptătorului La Tinereţe/ The portrait of the fighter as a young man, selected in the Forum section.

Also, Romanian shorts Colivia/ The Cage (D. Adrian Sitaru, 16 min) and Derby/ Derby, (D. Paul Negoescu, 20 min) are in the Berlinale Shorts Competition.

APFR offers its whole support to the Romanian actor Dragos Bucur, Romania’s Shooting star at the 2010 Berlinale.

Apart from the stand, APFR has organised the Romanian party- that has become one of the most important and appreciated events from Berlinale. It was a great opportunity for foreign producers, distribuitors from all over the world, heads of financing organizations to meet the people from the Romanian cinematography, to get updated with the latest developments of Romania and last, but not least, to enjoy a great live gypsy concert performed by Taraful din Clejani.

The Romanian Party was sustained by Murfatlar.

The Romanian Film Promotion booth was made possible by APFR, together with The National Centre of Cinematography and The Berlin Cultural Institute.
