Special Guests at Transilvania IFF

Around 700 guests, both Romanian and from abroad, are awaited in Cluj-Napoca where they’ll attend the biggest film festival in Romania. Filmmakers, actors, producers, distributors, festival directors will arrive in the next days at TIFF.

Cluj will host guests such as Anamaria Marinca, the star of the SciFi film Europa Report, Olimpia Melinte, one of Spain’s breakthrough artists of 2013 for her part in Cannibal or Cristina Flutur, a Competition jury member. The Beyond the Hills star will decide the awards of this edition alongside Nik Powell, the director of London’s National Film & Television School, Michael Kutza, the director of Chicago International Film Festival, János Szász, the director of the Oscar shortlisted film The Notebook, winner of the Crystal Globe in Karlovy Vary, and the director of photography Giora Bejach, of Lebanon fame.

Renowned Polish filmmaker Krzysztof Zanussi will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award, and actor Florin Zamfirescu will receive the Excellence Award. Among the festival’s special guests we can count Nicolas Philibert, the French documentary filmmaker celebrated in the 3X3 section, Peter Webber, an Oscar, Golden Globe and BAFTA nominee for Girl with a Pearl Earring, the Spanish filmmaker Albert Serra, recipient of Locarno’s Golden Leopard for The Story of My Death, filmmaker and visual artist Karim Ainouz, one of the authors of Cathedrals of Culture 3D, Christoph Terhechte, the director of the Berlinale’s Forum section, or Grainne Humphreys, the director of Dublin International Film Festival.

Cluj will also be visited by Olivier Rabourdin (Des hommes et des dieux), the multi-awarded Finnish filmmaker Pirjo Honkasalo, the French producer Cedomir Kolar (Oscar for No Man’s Land), the American filmmaker and actor Scott Cofey (Mulholland Drive), Dimitri Eipides, the director of Thessaloniki Film Festival, filmmaker and producer Uberto Pasolini (Full Monty), Katriel Schory, the director of the Israeli Film Fund, Alexandre Tchernookov – the director of Europa Cinemas, musician Alexander Bălănescu, actor Vlad Ivanov, filmmakers Nae Caranfil, Stere Gulea, Nicolae Mărgineanu
