Music orchestrated by the artist Sami Pageaux-Waro for the classic film The Thief of Bagdad (1924).

Director: Raoul Walsh

Starring: Douglas Fairbanks, Julanne Johnston, Snitz Edwards, Charles Belcher, Sôjin

A thief falls in love with the Caliph of Bagdad's daughter. The Caliph will give her hand to the suitor that brings back the rarest treasure after seven moons. The thief sets off on a magical journey while, unbeknownst to him, another suitor, the Prince of the Mongols, is not playing by the rules...

Freely adapted from „One Thousand and One Nights”, it tells the story of a thief who falls in love with the daughter of the Caliph of Bagdad.
In 1996, the film was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant". Douglas Fairbanks considered this to be his personal favorite of all of his films, according to his son.

In June 2008, the American Film Institute revealed its Top 10, the 10 best films in 10 "classic" American film genres. After polling over 1,500 people from the creative community, The Thief of Bagdad was acknowledged as the ninth best film in the fantasy genre.

Initially lasting 2h20, the projected film is the result of the work of editing and graphics on the picture. This visual creation was supervised by Gabrielle Manglou, a Reunion visual artist.

Samy Pageaux-Waro, a multi-instrumentalist Reunion artist, navigates between kora, percussion, flute and electronics to illustrate the film.

The music ranges from playful compositions, improvisations and loops created live. Brice Nauroy, sound engineer, polishes the original sound universe.
