Zenzile, the French group which provoked an entire revival of dub, a reggae related genre, in France, during the 1990s, bring to TIFF their hypnotic rhythms. After no less than 15 major releases, Zenzile boast a mature sound, which in time accustomed new rock and hip-hop elements alongside classic reggae effects and voices. After they played throughout most of Europe and North America, they finally arrive in Romania, in Cluj-Napoca!
The Dream Diggers are the perfect band to open to Zenzile, as they describe their style to be an “urban, industrial dub”. When experienced live, The Dream Diggers are bursts of energy filled with dub reverbs and delays, hypnotic melodies and tribal beats, often doubled by guest appearances which makes each show unique. “Finally a relevant conceptual electronic album in Romania in 2015!” – Andrei Bucureci, Eclectic.fm. The leader of the group is Codin Orășeanu, an active musician but also a socio-cultural activist. Thus he takes pride in organizing Subsonic, the first festival in Romania dedicated to bass culture, he is part of the Ginger Group team and of the band Shadowbox, and he co-organizes the public event Street Delivery.
Zenzile will also perform another live show, on Sunday, the 31st of May, at the Banffy Castle (Bonțida).
