2. PROGRAM DESCRIPTION AND OBJECTIVES

Book to Screen aims to bring the publishing and audiovisual industries into direct dialogue, fostering the development of new adaptations and building stronger partnerships between authors, publishers, and film and TV professionals.

The program will take place in Cluj-Napoca as part of TIFF RO Days | Industry Events. Participants will be invited to masterclasses and talks with leading Romanian and international industry professionals. They will also have access to Industry Days social events, offering valuable opportunities for networking and building professional connections.

Participation in Book to Screen takes place in two main stages. In the first stage, authors, publishers, and directors are invited to apply, and following the selection process, the chosen participants advance to the second stage. The second stage consists of pitch sessions, divided into two categories: Romanian authors and publishers present their works in pitches of up to five minutes before an audience of producers, directors, and distributors, while directors propose a book for screen adaptation and present their directorial vision, also in pitches of up to five minutes.

Book to Screen main goals:

  • Facilitate connections between rights holders and filmmakers to increase the number of screen adaptations of existing literary works.
